Homepage SEO’s importance is vastly overrated. I’ve spent years watching marketing teams obsess over homepage optimization while neglecting the real drivers of search visibility. After analyzing thousands of user journeys across different industries, the data consistently shows that homepages rarely serve as the primary entry point anymore.

The outdated focus on homepage SEO stems from the early days of the web, when sites were basically digital brochures. Back in 2003-2005, I remember optimizing sites where the homepage functioned as the main gateway. But modern search behavior and algorithms have completely changed how users discover and interact with content.

Search engines have evolved far beyond simplistic homepage evaluation.
