Usefulness: In general, making your blog articles readable is a good idea (it's partly why nobody writes in Esperanto). Many gurus, for instance, recommend aiming for 9th grade reading level. But first you need to know your readability scores. This widget compiles various readability metrics for you.
Caveats: This provides a variety of readability scores. They may slightly differ, so you may want to do your own research on which one you care about the most. If you hate research (we do!), then just go with the one with the coolest sounding name (aka, the Flesch Kincaid one).
